ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is gaining the heat all the more as the top rated teams India, South Africa, West Indies, England, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have qualified for the quarter final stages. Fans have been treated some quality cricket during the league stages and the competition is all the more tough now. India Vs Australia is one of the much awaited matches in the knockout stage fixtures.

R.ASHWIN


He did not get a game till the very end of the tourney's league stage, and now it seems Dhoni will bowl him exclusively in the Powerplay Overs.Expecting him to make the Australians scratch around 


R.PONTING



If any player is due the big score on Thursday,it would be Punter.He has claimed there is nothing small about the ball he is seeing and that it is only a matter of one good score in a crucial game for him to get back into contributing in what could be the dying stages of his illustrious ODI career


Key Battles
Tendulkar/Sehwag vs. Lee/Tait


Sehwag and Tendulkar have been lynchpins of Indian batting while Lee and Tait lead the Australian attack. The early battle between the pairs can go a long way in deciding the outcome of the game.   


Watson Vs Zaheer


Watson has been Australia’s most consistent batsmen in all formats in recent months while Zaheer has led from the front as far as Indian bowling is concerned. The contest between the two makes for a great viewing.


Overview



Australian batting has looked vulnerable to spin in past and with spin being India’s forte; Aussie batsmen have to find a way to deal with Indian tweakers.Australia don’t have potent spinners in their squad and therefore much would depend on how the troika of Lee, Tait and Johnson bowl here.



Choosing the right combination would be the biggest challenge for Dhoni in this game.Bowling continues to be India’s weak link and it is there that the real challenge lies for Dhoni to work out the right combination.Batting collapse at death overs is another factor India have to rectify in this game. The team has collapsed more often than not after a stupendous start and repeating this may prove fatal for them at knockout stage.



Prediction 


The India VS Australia Quarterfinals will be more of a psychological battle mainly for the Indians.It is hard to imagine a Semi-Final without Australia . This one is going to be a close one though, and difficult to predict.
